Delhi University Student Elections: A Historic Battle Won by Strategy, Unity & Social Media Power By Shailesh Ghanchi

Delhi University—home to the biggest and most influential student election in India—once again became the centre of national attention. This year, the contest was not just an election; it was a high-voltage battle of ideologies, strategy, and student power. The fight was extremely tight between ABVP and NSUI, especially for the most prestigious post—President of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU).

At the heart of this contest were two strong candidates: Aryan Maan representing ABVP and Joslyn Nandita from NSUI. The margin was razor-thin, and every single vote mattered.

As the election reached its final phase, a crucial political reality came into focus. Joslyn Nandita’s background from Rajasthan made it essential for ABVP to consolidate and mobilize the Rajasthani student vote in Delhi University—something that could decisively tilt the balance in favour of Aryan Maan.

The last two days before polling witnessed an electrifying atmosphere across DU campuses. Campaigning was on full swing—hostel to hostel, class to class, and most importantly, screen to screen. In this decisive moment, social media emerged as a game changer.

Recognizing the power of digital influence, prominent social media influencers from Rajasthan were mobilized. Stories, posts, and messages in support of Aryan Maan flooded Instagram, WhatsApp, and other platforms. This was not random promotion—it was a well-coordinated, last-minute digital campaign aimed at emotionally and culturally connecting with Rajasthani students studying in Delhi.

The impact was visible and powerful. The narrative shifted, momentum built rapidly, and student conversations across campuses echoed one name—Aryan Maan.

The result? A historic victory.

Aryan Maan emerged victorious in one of the closest presidential contests in DUSU history, proving that modern student politics is no longer confined to posters and rallies alone—it thrives on strategy, unity, and digital outreach.
